Mr. Benjamin Roscoe Nance Jr.

Benjamin Roscoe Nance, Jr. was born on February 19, 1944, to the late Mr. Benjamin Roscoe Nance, Sr. and Mrs. Annie Lee Nance in Lincoln Co., NC. After fulfilling his wife's (Mary Nance) final request of sitting with her to celebrate their 55th Wedding Anniversary on January 3, 2021, Mr. Nance began transitioning after battling Dementia for 6 years. He departed his earthly life on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. Benjamin is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers-in-law: Geneva M. Luckey and Wilma J. Caldwell; Alfred Luckey and Paul McLean. His Paternal Grandparents: Mr. Forney Nance and Mrs. Victoria McCorkie-Nance. His Maternal Grandparents: Mr. Samuel E. Graham, Sr., and Mrs. Martha Farrar Graham. Benjamin graduated from New Bold High School in Lincolnton, NC in 1964. He retired from American& Efird in 1993. Then still being the young man that he was he continued to work and started with Black& Decker where he worked until he officially retired in 2009 reaching his 65th birthday. Benjamin enjoyed working on cars and detailing them. He also enjoyed doing lawn care and cleaning. He was very detailed- oriented in every task he performed and expected the same from others. He would say ‘’If you going to do it you better do it right!” Benjamin was a truly devoted husband and father. He and Mary met in March of 1965 at a party where they had their first dance to the Beatles ‘’I Saw Her Standing There” and the rest was their future. He proposed to Mary on her birthday on July 8, 1965, and they were married on January 3, 1966. He provided strong wisdom, guidance, discipline, and encouragement for us to the best person you can be. Benjamin was the epitome of a Good Man; he provided and planned for his family and he was there whenever you needed him. Benjamin attended every graduation ceremony from elementary through college for his children and grandchildren. Benjamin joined Grace Tabernacle of Prayer in 1993 where he and Mary faithfully served the Lord together. He held the positions of an Usher, Deacon, Elder, and then the Father of the Church. Benjamin and Mary were faithful workers to the GTOP Soup Kitchen Ministry for approximately 6 years. He and Mary would deliver food to the senior Citizens, sick & shut-in, and supported various other Soup Kitchen Ministries. He was a truly devoted member and attended faithfully fulfilling his Christian duty until his health began to fail. Our Father, Benjamin Roscoe Nance, Jr., will be truly missed!!! Benjamin leaves to cherish his memory of his life- long love and best friend of 55 Years Mrs. Mary E. Nance. Three Daughters: Cassandra Sanders (Verdell), Tanya Nance and Latisha Nance(Tyquis), Nine Grandchildren: Jasmine Graham- McPherson (Quentin), Dethorn Benjamin Graham lll, Elizabeth Graham, Kiana Williams (Davion), Tayana Williamson, Achana Williamsson, Kimyan Williamson(KJ), Sevon Forney, and Braylen Forney. One Great- Grandchild: Lauryn McPherson. Two Sisters: Martha Sanders (Lewis) and Vernell McLean. One Brother: Carl Nance. Three Brother- in- Laws: Timothy Easter, Jr. (Violet), John Easter(Jillian), and Luther Caldwell. Five Sister- in- Laws: Aggie Hill (James), Sophia Rozzelle (Aaron), Rosa Sifford(Thomas deceased), Helen Anderson (Danny), and Alma Easter. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and his Grace Tabernacle of Prayer Church Family.
